At Pumayana we care deeply about our impact on the planet and as such we have put a lot of care and research into the development of products that are ethical and sustainable and where possible natural.
In line with our policy of giving back and nurturing earth, mankind and spirit we decided to focus on recycling, natural materials and cleaning the ocean through our product production.
All of the fabrics that we utilise to produce our tapestries and most of our clothing are made from recycled polyester fabric that is made up of plastic bottles and plastic waste gathered mainly from the Atlantic Ocean.
By purchasing clothing from Pumayana you are helping to clean the ocean and reduce plastic waste.
Different products are made with different percentages of recycled polyester – please see each individual product page for details of the exact percentage.
Some of our clothing categories are Certified Organic & Vegan, check our product listings for clarification.
With our certified organic clothing, we work closely with our suppliers to source only the best raw materials, grown or produced in ways that do not harm people, animals or the environment.
We exclusively use 100% GOTS certified organic cotton from India.
All Pumayana products are made to order. This means we never have to waste.
All Pumayana products are hand crafted by our artisans. Different products are produced by different artisans in different countries. Check product pages for details.
Made with love and ethics, all Pumayana products feature Aurelien's high frequency designs.
Pumayana Yoga Mats are designed to last, with a natural rubber base and an absorbent top layer that is made from recycled plastic bottles.
The top layer has a satin like feel and is non slip meaning you can safely use our yoga mat for any type of yoga, hot yoga or Pilates.
We use natural and sustainable organic rubber not synthetic. Many yoga mats are made from synthetic rubber made from the polymerization of petroleum based products. Our natural organic rubber is made from the latex of rubber trees - in other words the trees did not have to be cut down, the latex is extracted from healthy living rubber trees.
If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health.
Many of our clothing items are Oeko-Tex Certified. Check the product page for details.
Significant improvements in water testing has now shown that any synthetic fabric is likely to shed small microfibres (particles under 5mm) which in turn pollute our waterways.
Microfibre filters for washing machines are under development, but in the meantime we recommend that you use a Guppy Friend when washing any items made from polyester.
This ingenious and simple device catches 99% of any shedding from synthetic fabrics. You simply pop your clothes in the bag and then pop the bag in your washing machine.
